The glacier was closed to skiers due to a lack of snow. It remains open to walkers.

On August 7th, the Deux Alpes ski slope closed to skiers due to lack of snow. A first for this famous resort of the Northern Alps, which rises to 3600 meters above sea level.

The station opened 55 days against 80 previous seasons

Usually open until August 25, it will remain closed all month for skiers. The glacier will remain open all summer for walkers. The sequence of the two heat waves in June and July accelerated the melting of the snow. The resort would have been open only 55 days this year, compared with 80 in previous seasons.
