Dubai International Airport yesterday witnessed a smooth flow of passengers on the busy Friday ahead of Eid. According to Emirates' bookings, passenger traffic peaked yesterday, with the airline expecting more than 100,000 passengers to depart through Dubai International Airport. The Dubai Airports Corporation announced a package of measures to facilitate the movement of passengers during the holiday.

According to Emirates, the flow of departing passengers began on the afternoon of Thursday, August 8, and will continue at a high pace until Tuesday, August 13, and estimated the number of passengers who will use Terminal 3 dedicated to its flights, including Over 372 thousand passengers.

According to the airline, check-in counters were opened 24 hours before each flight, and passengers should check in two hours before departure, whatever their class, and the counters are closed one hour before each flight.

“Dubai International Airport is operating at full capacity to facilitate the flow of passengers for departures and arrivals, as well as transit passengers,” said Essa Al Shamsi, Vice President of Operations at Dubai Airports. Steps to ensure that the high volume of traffic does not affect the experience of customers, Dubai Airports is working to increase the number of employees at the points of direct dealing with customers, from the airport terminal to the departure gates, in an effort to ensure the smooth flow of passengers.

Al Shamsi said that the services available at Dubai International Airport have significantly changed the travel experience, noting that passengers can overcome the queues by checking in online 48 hours before the flight or taking advantage of the express and early baggage delivery offices. Eligible visitors (nationals of certain countries who obtain a visa upon arrival) and residents of the UAE (holders of an Emirates ID card) can use smart gates to avoid queuing when checking passports, both on arrival and departure.
