The Federal Customs Authority has signed an agreement and a memorandum of understanding with the General Directorate of Customs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai Customs as part of the project to implement a unified electronic customs system at the customs departments and border ports in the country.

The agreement, which was signed with Abu Dhabi Customs, provides for the implementation of the Mersal system and its modernization of an electronic customs system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi under the supervision of the Authority, within the framework of the implementation of a unified customs electronic system at the state level, while the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Dubai Customs. On the use and application of the electronic customs system in force at the Department (Mersal system), a unified system for all customs administrations in the State.

The Commissioner of Customs, Chairman of the Authority, Ali Saeed Matar Al-Neyadi, said that «the application of a unified customs electronic system at the level of the state contributes to strengthen customs control and integrity, and improve the capabilities of customs departments in the field of risk management and the exchange of information and data on the spot».

He added that the agreement, which was signed with Abu Dhabi Customs, aims to implement the electronic customs system «Mirsal» applicable by Dubai Customs and updates a unified electronic system in the country, which is applied at Abu Dhabi Customs instead of the existing «Abu Dhabi» system, under the supervision of the Authority In the framework of its plan to unify regulations in the customs administrations in the State He pointed out that the customs system «Mersal» and its updates have been selected to be a unified electronic system at the state level, based on the results of a technical study comparing customs regulations applied in the country, and regulations applied in many countries of the world.
