The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced that an action plan is being developed to involve nine vital sectors in the country with the standards and requirements of the recently launched National Cyber ​​Security Strategy.

She pointed out that Emirates ID team has recently begun to communicate effectively with certain sectors in the UAE to monitor the requirements of enhancing cybersecurity and protecting the information infrastructure in these sectors. Nine priority sectors in the country have been identified to include strategic standards, Notably the energy, telecommunications and information technology, financial services, government, electricity and water sectors.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of TRA, said: "The TRA is currently working on a plan of action to involve and link nine vital sectors in the country with the recently launched national cybersecurity strategy and standards in line with the objective of protecting vital assets In the state and included in the strategy, which works to develop an integrated program to protect the vital information infrastructure ».

He added that «the specialized team of the Authority has finally begun to communicate with some of the nine sectors targeted to link and participate to explore the requirements to enhance cybersecurity, in accordance with modern international standards, in preparation for the start of participation mechanisms and requirements of the national strategy next year».

These include: energy, telecommunications and information technology, financial services and insurance sector, government sector, electricity and water, food and agriculture, health services, emergency services, transportation "The strategy targets the integrated program to protect IT infrastructure in these sectors, identify associated risks, develop global risk management standards and implement effective reporting, compliance and response procedures." He added that «the Authority is looking through the action plan how to participate in these sectors during the next year and the requirements of raising and strengthening the standards of cybersecurity, and to discuss the requirements received by the Commission in the context of its preparations to link with the mechanisms of the strategy, such as some of the training may be required by some institutions operating in these sectors for their cadres .

He pointed out that «after the completion of the work plan will be a self-assessment by the institutions operating these sectors on the standards of cybersecurity, and then an assessment by the Commission and then be submitted to the Council of Ministers on the required regulatory measures». Al Mansoori said that the "National Strategy for Cybersecurity" includes the basis for developing an effective plan to respond to cyber incidents and to enable rapid and coordinated response in the State. We look forward to organizing a mechanism for detecting and reporting cyber security incidents, And build national capacity at a global level to respond to all types of cybercrime.

"What we are looking for will be achieved through key initiatives, including a unified means of reporting cyber incidents, providing guidance on threat protection, effective risk monitoring, and effective information exchange between different actors," he said. He pointed out that the "National Strategy for Cybersecurity" has been adopted in the development of the country on three main sources, including global reports analyzed in the sector, benchmark comparisons with 10 leading countries in the cybersecurity sector, in addition to relying on the views of a team of global experts in the cybersecurity sector .
