The Higher Committee for Consumer Protection, during its second meeting of 2019, chaired by Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, discussed a mechanism proposed by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology to inform the consumer about food information provided by food establishments in the country or in the lists of meals ordered. Through e-shopping, through a standard prepared by the Authority, and specializes in the data of those meals and menus. The standard includes data on calories and ingredients, meat sources in meals, allergens and others, noting that the application of the standard will be optional in the first phase of confidence-building and awareness-raising.

The committee also discussed the fees and the amounts applied by the cooperative societies and the main outlets, in return for their approval of the supply of goods on the shelves, in the spaces allocated to them, and their impact on producers and distributors, as well as on the end consumer.

Al Mansoori pointed out the importance of following up this issue and drew up a comprehensive comparative study between the associations and the main outlets, including the area, price and nature of the goods, the proper handling mechanisms between the port and the merchant.

The Committee continued to discuss the extent to which Arabic has been used for service activities in the country's markets. This is one of the items that has been repeated in several consecutive meetings of the Committee. This reflects the extent of the government's interest in the application of the Arabic language, especially in the service professions. Health clinics, pharmacies, commercial invoices, and others.

The meeting discussed the follow-up of the Ministry of Economy's efforts to develop the electronic goods control program, in accordance with the laws in force in this regard, and the nomination of a committee from the economic development departments in the country to study the unified contracts for car rental, and the dissemination of the model applied in Sharjah, .

In addition, the Committee reviewed a report on cases of refunds and the recall of goods in the State during the second quarter of 2019, which indicated that the total number of call campaigns during the period referred to was 17, including 13 vehicle campaigns and four campaigns for other goods.
