The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not specified the date of the arrest of Fariba Adelkhah. Several Persian media based abroad claim that it was "three weeks old". According to Le Point magazine in Paris, the French-Iranian researcher was arrested on "7 June". On the government's official website, a spokesman, Ali Rabiï, said he had no information about the arrest and did not know "who arrested her or why."

The French authorities have " made representations to the Iranian authorities to obtain from them information on the situation and conditions of the arrest of Ms. Adelkhah and request consular access " to their national, but received " no response satisfactory to date, says the Quai d'Orsay in a statement . " France calls on the Iranian authorities to shed light on the situation of Ms. Adelkhah and reiterates her requests, in particular that of an authorization without delay for consular access ," insists the ministry.

Researcher at the Center for International Research (Ceri) of Sciences Po-Paris, Doctor of Anthropology at the School of Higher Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS) in Paris, Fariba Adelkhah, 60, collaborates in several scientific journals such as Iranian Studies and the Review of the Muslim worlds and the Mediterranean . She is the author of numerous publications on Iran and Afghanistan, says the Institute of Political Studies on its Internet portal.

His arrest came amid tensions over relations between Tehran and western countries, following US sanctions on Iran and the Islamic Republic's announcements that it was no longer respecting certain measures in the nuclear deal.

European countries, including France, which sent an envoy on the ground, are trying to bring down the tension . On Monday, Tehran again called on the European Union to take " practical, effective and responsible " measures to save the deal.
