No one expects us to be a victim of a traffic accident, but unfortunately, this happens in the blink of an eye, so that some of us suddenly find ourselves at the heart of the accident. And because the simplest incidents may make you feel confused, AXA Insurance offers a set of useful tips on how to behave when you have a traffic accident, noting that when an incident occurs, panic is the master of the situation, preventing individuals from taking the necessary measures to protect themselves and their interests. For tips:

1. Reporting the incident: There are undoubtedly different levels of accidents. We focus here on the collision between two or more cars when drivers or passengers are not seriously injured. In the case of serious injuries, you must first call 999 for an ambulance, and you can call 901 for non-emergency situations. In the case of minor accidents, it can be reported through the application of Dubai Police, and this process takes only three minutes and you are required to enter the driver's license and ownership of the car, and take some pictures of damage in your car so that the authorities can assess the accident and identify the party who is wrong.

2. Obtain a full police report: The police report is the most important document when a traffic accident occurs. Without it you will expose yourself to many legal and financial problems, as it is illegal to carry out any repairs without a police report. For incidents reported through the application of Dubai Police, the incident report shall be sent to all concerned by text message within 24 hours of completion of the incident registration process through application.

3. Notify the insurance company: Contact your car insurance company as soon as possible to inform them of your accident. Tell them that you got a police report and that they have to arrange to pick up the car from an agreed upon location. The insurance company will advise you on the next step.

4. Wait for help: If the damage is limited to the vehicle's exterior, it is safe to follow the driving. If your vehicle is badly damaged and unsafe for driving, your insurance company is often obliged to send a car lift to move your car to the nearest authorized repair center.

5. Follow-up of claim and reform procedures: The policyholders of the insurance policy are informed directly of the claim and the reform workshop. The repair period depends on the size of the damage and the availability of spare parts.

"Keeping the list of steps to be taken in the event of an accident in your car can help ensure you are ready when you call the insurance company," said Frank Heimbergier, CEO of AXA in the Gulf.
