"The Ministry of Transport will develop a universal methodology for assessing the financial losses of airlines in the event of a suspension of flights for reasons beyond their control," the report indicates.

As clarified in the department, the methodology will establish the procedure for calculating the direct losses of the carrier and the loss of profits.

It is noted that after the Ministry of Transport approves this methodology, a package of documents must be prepared, substantiating the amount of compensation from the Russian budget for domestic air carriers.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov said that the government is working on a mechanism for compensating direct losses to Russian airlines for stopping flights to Georgia.

On June 21, amid escalating political tensions in Georgia, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree prohibiting Russian airlines from July 8 to carry out air transportation of citizens to this country.
