The Baltic States and the EU have agreed on the steps to synchronize power systems
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and the leaders of the Baltic countries, as well as Poland, signed a roadmap on the out-of-sync of the Baltic energy systems with Russia.
“The out-of-sync of the power grids of the Baltic countries from these (Russian and Belarusian. - RT ) systems and synchronization with the Continental European Network (CEN) is an important political priority for reaching the Energy Union,” the EC report said.
As noted, the roadmap was signed by the President of Lithuania, the premiers of Estonia, Latvia and Poland.
In December 2018, Deputy Director General of the Institute of National Energy Alexander Frolov, in an interview with FBA Economy Today, estimated plans to test the shutdown of the Kaliningrad energy system from the Baltic countries in May 2019.
