You will not get back the service costs that you pay as a consumer per concert ticket if the event does not take place. That is contrary to the law, the Dutch Consumers Association told NOS on Thursday.

Ticket seller Ticketmaster does not reimburse the service costs of 4.95 euros or more per ticket if someone recovers his or her money. The company invokes the terms and conditions that the consumer accepts when purchasing.

According to the Consumers' Association, however, customers should be refunded the full amount if there is a change in date or cancellation of the concert. Regardless of the terms and conditions, customers should legally get the amount back.

The association also calls the service costs "absurdly high". At Ticketmaster they can vary per event, ranging to more than 13 euros per ticket. Moreover, this variation in amounts would be unfounded, because the service of the company does not differ per event.

Ticketmaster informed NOS in a reaction that the company sees the service of delivering the tickets as a separate agreement with the customer, for which the service costs are paid. This service is therefore also provided if a concert does not take place, and the amount is therefore not returned to the customer.
