The board of directors of the Renault group expressed Monday its "interest" for the proposed merger between equals proposed by Italian-American Fiat Chrysler (FCA), announced the French manufacturer in a statement.

"After having carefully reviewed the terms of this friendly proposal, the Renault Board of Directors has decided to study with interest the opportunity of such a merger, consolidating the Renault Group's industrial footprint and generating additional value for the Group.
