Ryanair has to pay damages from 380,000 euros to 480,000 to eight pilots, according to the cantonal judge of the East Brabant court. The employment contract of the pilots will also be dissolved on 1 May.

The Dutch pilots have been fighting a fierce battle with the budget pilot about terms of employment for some time. After the pilots, like their colleagues in other countries, stopped this summer for better working conditions, Ryanair decided to close the base in the Netherlands.

The airline offered the pilots the choice: dismissal or a new base. The Dutch judge eventually put a stop to this and concluded that Ryanair was not allowed to fire the pilots.

The group still closed the base, but there was a legal jousting. According to the pilots, they are intimidated and they blame Ryanair for being a bad employer.
