The head of the department, Peter Altmeier, informed RIA Novosti on the results of the German-American conference “LNG Import Market Germany: Potential and Opportunities”.

“There is no deal,” he said.

The minister added that in Germany “three questions are clearly divided” - on expanding the number of gas suppliers, including at the expense of the United States, building a gas pipeline and ensuring gas transit through Ukraine after 2019.

“Germany’s intention to differentiate its gas supplies is completely independent of other issues,” he noted.

Altmaier, commenting on the situation with the EU gas directive regarding the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, noted that every country has the right to freely maintain the economic and trade relations that it considers correct.

In January, expert Konstantin Voronov commented to NSN on reports that the United States again demanded that the EU and Germany stop construction of the Nord Stream 2.
