In the Baltic Sea, 2700 hp rescue cruiser has freed a sailing ship with dozens of people from a predicament. A first attempt with a smaller rescue ship had failed.

A rescue cruiser brought a sailing ship that had run aground at Wismar with 42 people safely back to port. The 32-meter-long cog had accumulated on a shoal a few hundred meters from the Baltic Sea coast, as the German Society for Rescue Shipwrecked announced.

First, it was attempted to tow the 260-ton sailing ship with the 380-hp "Wolfgang Wiese". Since this was not successful, they also sent the rescue cruiser "Hans Hackmack" to the accident site - which has over 2700 hp. With his help, the cog could be transported back to Wismar.
