Highlights: A court in the Netherlands rejects Russia's appeal in the Yukos case. In 2014, an arbitration court in The Hague awarded approximately $50 billion in compensation to the three companies on the grounds that Russia allegedly deliberately bankrupted Yukos. In November 2021, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands overturned the appeal court's decision on Russia's payment of more than $50billion to former Yukos shareholders. The case was returned for retrial to the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. The court believes that the international arbitration decision should remain in force.

As RIA Novosti points out with reference to the decision, the court believes that the international arbitration decision to pay more than $50 billion to former Yukos shareholders should remain in force.
