Renat Karchaa, adviser to the general director of Rosenergoatom, said that the danger of flooding the Zaporozhye region due to a possible breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir significantly decreased after specialists opened one of the sandors in order to drain water.

According to him, it was possible to find a technical solution to the problem.

"One of the sandors of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was opened, the repair of the Kakhovka main canal began: pumps and surviving pipes are being restored," TASS quoted him as saying.

Karchaa noted that the water began to drain, and the danger of flooding has significantly decreased.

Prior to this, Karchaa reported that in the event of a breakthrough in the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir due to a record water level, the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant would be flooded.

Earlier, the head of the movement "We are together with Russia" Vladimir Rogov said that Kiev is deliberately seeking flooding of the left-bank part of the Zaporozhye region in order to create favorable conditions for crossing the Dnieper and seizing the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
