Highlights: Young people with EPA tractors offered summer jobs in Vilhelmina. They can do light chores, such as driving food home to the elderly and taking walks with them. The municipality hopes that this will encourage more people to invest in healthcare in the future. The idea to take EPA young people to help in home care came from a similar project in Dalarna. The young people will receive mileage allowance when they use their EPA tractor and salary according to agreement. The project is funded by the epa youth fund.

To solve the summer staffing, the home care service in Vilhelmina epa youth is using help. Freja Selmbro and Melinn Danielsson have taken up the offer. "A lot of people see us as just being out and about, playing loud music, driving slowly and getting in the way. That's why it's great that we now get to show that we are prepared to help in society," says Melinn Danielsson.

It is tough to get substitutes for health and social care in many municipalities. In Vilhelmina, young people with EPA tractors are now offered summer jobs where they can do light chores, such as driving food home to the elderly and taking walks with them.

– We hope that these young people will enjoy working with us and feel that they are making an important contribution and that in the future they will also feel it natural to work with us, says Kerstin Ottosson, unit manager in home care in Vilhelmina.

Taking inspiration from Dalarna

The idea to take EPA young people to help in home care came from a similar project in Dalarna.

– We have stolen the idea outright and since it turned out very well in Dalarna, we thought we could try this as well, says Birgitta Ohlsson, who is also head of unit at Vilhelmina municipality.
