Speaker McCarthy on Biden's nomination: he should think not about his future, but about the future of the United States

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy commented on US President Joe Biden's intention to run for a second term as president.


"Today, President Biden appears to be focused on his own political future, but he must be focused on America's future," he wrote on Twitter.

According to McCarthy, Biden should have announced that he would finally sit down at the negotiating table and discuss a reasonable increase in the national debt limit in order to avoid the first default in US history.

Earlier, Biden officially announced that he would run for a second term in the US presidential election in 2024.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on Biden's intention to run for a second term, said that Russia would proceed from the practical steps that Washington would take in real politics.

Former President of the United States Donald Trump said that Biden's nomination for a second term could end in a world war.
