Highlights: Tinting the windows of cars is a common practice in Russia. The use of air conditioning in cars increases fuel consumption. Tinting of the windows reduces the amount of light that can be seen by the driver. It also reduces the number of people who can see into the car from the driver's seat. It is a form of protection for the driver and the passenger from the sun. It reduces the risk of injury to the driver by reducing the amount that is visible from the front.

Auto expert Igor Morzharetto, in an interview with RT, commented on the proposal to allow tinting of the front side windows of the car.

As Morjaretto emphasized, the current requirements are far from the most serious in the world.

"There are a number of countries where the climate is hotter, but there is still a categorical prohibition of tinted front windows," the specialist emphasized.

He cited Azerbaijan and Georgia as examples.

"In addition to a bright sunny day, there is also a dark southern night, and if the glass is heavily tinted, in particular, the driver, then he does not see anything that is happening to his left. This greatly reduces the viewing angle, this is a matter of safety, "Morjaretto emphasized.

The expert considers the argument in favor of saving fuel from turning off the air conditioner to be rather strange.

"Air conditioning is a thing that is used everywhere, and its use adds a maximum of 5% to fuel consumption, and for the sake of saving a penny, it is somewhat strange to suffer in a hot cabin in the heat," the source said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov in his Telegram channel announced preparations for the submission to the State Duma of a bill that provides for the removal of restrictions on tinting the front side windows of a car.

According to him, this is a "normal world practice" to protect the driver from direct sunlight, as well as reduce the heating temperature of the cabin.

It is also noted that in hot weather, the use of air conditioning in the car significantly increases fuel consumption.
