Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Ilya Kiva told RIA Novosti that the Russian special services in the fall of 2022 prevented an attempt on his life, which was prepared by "representatives of another country."

"In September, FSB officers, together with the GRU, prevented an attempt on my life, which was supposed to be carried out by representatives of another country," he said.

A former member of the Rada said that the attackers intended to shoot him in the Russian capital when he got out of his armored car.

Kiva claims that they wanted to shoot him either near his place of residence or near the Ostankino television center, where he periodically appears.

In addition, Kiva said that the perpetrators of the assassination attempt on him were to be former employees of the special services of a Middle Eastern state who arrived in Russia for this.

He also said that he learned from the Russian special services that an assassination attempt was being prepared on him after the completion of the operation.

"The fate of these killers is unknown to me," he said.

At the end of March, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the fact of an attempt on the life of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Mariupol.
