It was the port staff in Gävle who alerted the Armed Forces about a foreign object on the bottom on June 29, 2017. New analyses reveal that it may have been a Russian Spetznas craft that violated Swedish waters.

This is shown by previously unknown information presented in the book "Russian submarine operations against Sweden and the Nordic countries", which TV4 news has taken part in.

"The incident must therefore be classified as a serious intentional violation," Nils Ove Jansson, a former naval officer and author of the book, told TV4 Nyheter.

The data must have been determined through an analysis of a recovered hard drive with measurement data that was collected by the staff at the Port of Gävle.

The Armed Forces state that they have investigated a suspected violation, but that the conclusions are confidential.
