Biden administration asks for $842 billion in FY2024 military spending

The administration of US President Joe Biden has requested $842 billion in military spending in fiscal 2024, up 3.2% from 2023. The draft budget contains the allocation of money to get ahead of China in global competition and continued support for Ukraine.


In particular, according to RIA Novosti with reference to the draft budget, the White House is asking for $6 billion to support Kyiv, NATO allies and other partner countries in Europe.

In addition, another $37.7 billion is proposed to be spent on maintaining the nuclear deterrent, and $23.8 billion on the modernization of the nuclear complex.

The Politico newspaper previously wrote that the Biden administration plans to ask the US Congress for the largest defense budget in the history of the country for 2024.
