The Norwegian profile's doubts about Frida Karlsson: "I don't think she will be an autocratic queen"

Many predict that Frida Karlsson will be the next cross-country queen after Marit Björgen and Therese Johaug. But Norway's former national team manager Vidar Löfshus does not believe she can rise to the same level as her predecessors. - There are some things that make you not believe that she will be an autocratic queen in the same way that Marit Björgen and Therese Johaug were, he says to Dagbladet.

The long-distance WC in Planica begins with the sprint on Thursday.

There, Frida Karlsson hopes to follow up the success from the Tour de ski.

In 2019, Frida Karlsson was suspended from the Swedish Skiing Federation for not meeting the health requirements, and said in November 2021 that she struggled with her diet to avoid suffering from an energy deficiency.

The lack of nutrition is something that Norway's former national team manager, Vidar Löfshus, believes can stop Karlsson from becoming as dominant as Marit Björgen and Therese Johaug were.

- I feel very sorry for Frida, that she goes through such periods.

I have no idea what is happening around her, but she has had periods of nutritional deficiency and it is possible that she does not have full control over it.

It will be very unstable and not least fragile, says Löfshus to Daglbadet.

However, Löfshus believes that Karlsson will continue to be one of the strongest shining stars in the skiing world.

- There is no doubt that Frida is good and will dominate the cross-country sport for many years, he says.
