Major General Oleg Yegorov, deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, said that the Syrian authorities had decided to open checkpoints on the contact line of the Idlib de-escalation zone in connection with the earthquake.

It is reported by TASS.

This decision was made in order to provide assistance to civilians located in the part of the province of Idlib that is not controlled by Damascus.

“Russian military personnel continue to take part in the aftermath of the earthquake in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia and Hama,” Yegorov added.

Earlier it was reported that the militants prevent the Syrian authorities from bringing humanitarian aid into the province.

The Russian military also organized the distribution of 45.9 tons of humanitarian aid in Syria.
