Erik Karlsson made history last night when his San Jose Sharks defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2. The defender was noted for two assists, and has now scored in 13 straight games, which is a new club record.

The points came in the first period.

First he assisted, with the help of Oskar Lindblom, Jonah Gadjovich to reduce 1–2.

Then he found Alexander Barbanov who pushed there 3–2.

Karlsson has now scored 21 points, two goals and 19 assists, in 13 games for his Sharks.

He is tied for first in the scoring league for running backs with his 53 points, and is fifth in the overall scoring league.

Back colleague Marc-Edouard Vlasic is undeniably impressed by his teammate.

- He creates something every shift.

He is dangerous every time he is on the ice, he says of Karlsson after the game.

Despite Erik Karlsson's incredible scoring output, the Sharks are second to last in the Pacific division, and look to have a hard time reaching the playoffs.
