See the 17-year-old's historic jump - Ilia Malinin became the first in the world

He has previously done it in training, but now the 17-year-old figure skating talent Ilia Malinin has also set a quadruple axel during competition. The jump involves 4.5 laps in the air and Ilia Malinin is the first ever to do the jump. - In training, it's quite easy for me to know how to put it, but doing it at the competition is a completely different thing, says Malinin according to The Washington Post.


The American Ilia Malinin is one of the USA's biggest talents and was close to securing a place in the Olympics in Tokyo last winter.

The quadruple axel jump carried him to victory in the US International Figure Skating Classic on Wednesday.

- It felt really good, he says after the competition.
