Extradited from Thailand to the United States, Russian citizen Dmitry Ukrainsky could face up to 20 years in prison in the United States on charges of fraud, said John Marzouli, a spokesman for the office of the Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

“If convicted, he could face up to twenty years in prison,” he told RIA Novosti.

According to Marzuli, the next court hearing has not yet been scheduled.

On June 21, Ukrainsky first appeared in court in New York.

According to declassified court documents, he is accused of defrauding more than $300,000.

In 2019, the Bangkok Criminal Court ruled to allow Ukrainian extradition to the United States at the request of the American side.

Russian Dmitry Ukrainsky was sentenced in Thailand to ten years in prison on charges of embezzling funds from credit cards.

In July 2018, his defense appealed the verdict.

Ukrainian was arrested by Thai police in 2016 at the request of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation.
