Finnish energy concern Fortum announced plans to write off €2.1 billion of Russian-related assets, more than a third of the country's net asset value.

“Fortum will record a pre-tax impairment of approximately €2.1 billion related to the company’s operations in Russia in its first quarter 2022 results,” the company said in a statement.

After impairment, the value of net assets in Russia will be €3.3 billion.

Earlier, the Finnish company Fennovoima announced that it had terminated the contract with RAOS Project JSC (a subsidiary of Rusatom Energo International) for the construction of the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant in Pyhäjoki.

Rosatom expressed disappointment with the decision of the Finnish company Fennovoima to terminate the contract for the construction of the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant and called it "absolutely incomprehensible."
