New coronavirus cases doubled in South Africa

In the Republic of South Africa (RSA) over the past day, the number of daily coronavirus cases has doubled. This was announced at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases.


According to RIA Novosti, doctors have registered 4373 new cases of COVID-19 in the republic.

This exceeds yesterday's figure.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the country is 2,968,052.

On November 25, it became known that scientists have identified a new strain of coronavirus in Botswana, South Africa and Hong Kong, which could potentially become the most dangerous.

Later it was designated by the Greek letter "omicron".

Earlier, the Russian virologist Maxim Skulachev spoke about the omicron strain.
