US President Joe Biden said in his address that refusing to withdraw troops from Afghanistan would mean an escalation of the conflict.

“The harsh reality was either to withdraw our troops in accordance with the agreement or to risk escalating the conflict,” Biden said.

Biden also noted that there was no ceasefire or an agreement to protect the US military after May 1.

“There were no guarantees about the status quo and the prevention of the death of the Americans,” the American leader summed up.

Earlier, US President Biden said in an address that he did not regret the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, despite the seizure of the republic by the Taliban *.
