The death toll continues to rise after the house collapse in Surfside outside the American city of Miami in Florida on June 24. On Saturday, Daniella Levine Cava, the mayor of Miami-Dade, announced that the number of dead found in the landslides is now up to 86.

There are still 43 people reported missing since the 12-storey building in Surfside collapsed, while authorities do not know exactly how many were in the building that fateful night.

The hope of finding more survivors in the landslides is considered to be gone.

The technical investigation has not yet been able to determine why the 40-year-old building suddenly collapsed.
