Iranian Interior Ministry officially announced the winner of the presidential election

Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli has officially announced that the head of the country's judiciary, Ibrahim Raisi, has won the presidential elections.


According to RIA Novosti, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that Raisi received 17.9 million votes.

“Ibrahim Raisi gained 17,926,345 votes, becoming the chief executive and president of Iran,” Fazli said during a press conference.

The overall turnout in the presidential elections was 48.8%.

More than 28.9 million people took part in the voting.

Earlier it was reported that Raisi, according to preliminary voting results, is leading the presidential elections in the Islamic republic.
