Sara Hector did not manage to follow up Wednesday's silver medal in the giant slalom. She was far behind the top in the first run. - I would have gone for it even more. Even more wear or tear, she tells SVT Sport.

It did not go as Sara Hector had hoped for in the giant slalom.

She got off to a good start on the run but got wrong in several turns and lost a lot of time.

In the finish she was 2.24 behind leader Mikaela Shiffrin who had a really good ride just before Hector.

- I went around and where it was icy I went really bad, says Hector to SVT after the ride.

"Became insecure"

Hector says that she saw at the inspection that there was hard ice on the slopes.

- I knew I would have to go well there but then I just became unsure when I get there.

- It's something I have to work on.

It's tough to turn such a thing around in the middle of a championship, it would have been fun if I could.

It has become a very mental thing for me.

That's what makes it really hard to stay calm, says Hector.

It was not just Hector who had a tough day.

The big home jump Federica Brignone, with start number four, ran out in the first run.

Even Alphand after

Hector says that it is now a matter of just taking a chance in the second run.

- But the day is over.

The competition's second Swede, Estelle Alphand, also had a tough competition.

With starting number 25, she was 2.31 behind Shiffrin.

The competition is ongoing.
