Jim Rutherford has left his position as general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The empty space is replaced by Patrik Allvin. That makes him the first Swede ever to be GM for a club in the NHL.

Patrik Allvin has been a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins for many years.

In November last year, he became assistant general manager (GM) after 14 years as a scout for the NHL club.

Jim Rutherford has been forced to resign as GM due to personal reasons.

Patrik Allvin takes over as a temporary solution.

- I want everyone to know - from owners to supporters - that I will do my utmost for the Penguins during this period, Allvin says to the club's website.

The Penguins write that they are looking for a permanent replacement.
