White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the US administration, led by US President Joe Biden, plans to prepare a new strategy for relations with North Korea.

According to Psaki, the United States has a key interest in containing the DPRK.

"We will adopt a new strategy to ensure the safety of the American people and allies," TASS quoted her as saying.

The White House said the new approach will begin with a thorough review of policy towards the DPRK, which will be conducted along with close consultations with South Korea, Japan and other countries "on options for maintaining pressure on North Korea, as well as the potential for any future diplomacy." ...

Earlier, the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, during the Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, said that Washington is the "main enemy" of Pyongyang.
