Biden signs US return to WHO executive orders and climate agreement

1/20/2021, 10:42:26 PM

US President Joe Biden signed executive orders for the return of the United States to the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement.

This was reported by the Associated Press.

Earlier it became known that Biden intends to sign several decrees on the first day of taking office.

Biden noted that WHO is "critical to coordinating the international response to COVID-19."

At the end of May 2020, former US President Donald Trump announced the severance of US relations with WHO following an investigation into the organization's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and due to "an alarming lack of independence from China."

In June 2017, Trump announced the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement.
