The art critic about the monoliths: A result of the "new age" trend

The mystery surrounding the monoliths continues - most recently in Katrineholm. The cultural news's art critic Dennis Dahlqvist believes that the placed pillars are a result of an ongoing "new age" trend.

An obelisk-like monument in the form of contemporary monoliths was first found in Utah in the United States earlier this year.

Since then, similar works have been discovered in about thirty different places in the world.

The monolith in Katrineholm does not measure up to the same standards as the others around the world, says Dennis Dahlqvist:

- It stands on a mountain with a view of buildings.

Unfortunately, you do not get the sharp contrast then with nature and art in the form of the monolith, as in Utah, he says.

Extraterrestrial monuments

There have been speculations about extraterrestrial connections to the monoliths because some have disappeared shortly after they were found and the "artists" in most cases did not appear.

- There is a craving for spirituality.

The longing for something bigger and better is perhaps greater than ever, especially now with the pandemic, says Dennis Dahlqvist.
