11/23/2020, 12:50:27 PM

Swedish pole vault star Armand Duplantis is one of five finalists in the battle for the prize as the male athlete of the year in the world. It is clear since the International Athletics Federation presented the final candidates.

Duplantis improved the world record twice last winter to 6.18 and was the first of all time to skip 6.15 outdoors.

Other finalists are Joshua Cheptegei, Uganda (5,000 / 10,000m), Johannes Vetter, Germany (javelin), Karsten Warholm, Norway (400m hurdles) and Ryan Crouser, USA (shot put).

Distributed December 5

Discus thrower Daniel Ståhl was on the first list of ten names, but can no longer win the award.

The prize will be awarded at the World Athletics Awards, which will be held virtually on 5 December.
