During Sunday's party leader debate in SVT's Agenda, the name Hassan was used in a feature that illustrated crime. The choice of name received harsh criticism on social media. Now SVT employee Christian Catomeris chooses to leave the Agenda editorial office, reports Dagens nyheter.

In the party leader debate on Sunday, crime was one of the topics discussed.

In a feature, 13-year-old "Hassan", living in a so-called vulnerable area, was taken up as an example of a person who ended up wrong in society.

"Hassan" was then described as a person who starts hanging out with older criminals and selling drugs.

The choice of name aroused criticism on social media, and now Dagens Nyheter writes that the profiled SVT employee Christian Catomeris has chosen to leave the editorial office.

- At the morning meeting, I said that I thought it was not okay and asked to leave the program as soon as possible.

I will go back to the foreign service, from which I am on loan, says Christian Catomeris.

There were several reasons why Catomeris chose to leave the editorial office, but he wants to take these internally.

- For me, it gave a certain peace of mind to make the decision.

I have been uncomfortable with how to deal with issues of immigration and minorities in some cases, he says.
