IIHF notifies Minsk that the 2021 World Cup will not be postponed

President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Rene Fasel, during a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, said that the 2021 World Cup, which is to be held in Minsk and Riga, cannot be postponed for political reasons.


As reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the government of Belarus, the parties stressed their adherence to the principle of "sports outside politics".

It is noted that the Belarusian side understood with understanding the council's decision to create an expert group to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current status of the tournament preparation.

Earlier it became known that IIHF will additionally study the possibility of holding the World Cup 2021 in Minsk and Riga.
