Scientists from China and the University of Southampton conducted a study, during which they found out how likely it is to become infected with coronavirus while traveling on a train.

This is stated in an article in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases.

The study looked at data on 2,334 passengers with coronavirus symptoms who traveled on high-speed trains in China. According to scientists, these people had a total contact with other passengers more than 72 thousand times.

As determined by experts, sitting next to a patient with coronavirus can become infected with a probability of 3.5%, and those who are in the same row with him - with a probability of 1.5%.

At the same time, the one who sits in the seat of a passenger with COVID-19 who left the carriage may subsequently get sick with a probability of 0.075%, scientists say.

Also, experts believe that keeping distance reduces the risk of coronavirus disease.

Earlier, scientists at the University of California spoke about the overreaction of the immune system to the coronavirus.
