  • Is Mike Tyson a fierce opponent of protests that took place in the United States after the death of George Floyd?
  • This is what suggests a critical tweet on the subject, which would emanate from the former boxing champion.
  • But it is a montage, denied by a representative of Mike Tyson, who also expressed his support for the demonstrators.

"If the Whites started riots every time a Black killed one of them, we would never have peace. Although it sounds like a typical quote from Donald Trump, this sentence would actually have been uttered by Mike Tyson, according to a screenshot relayed on social networks - or a direct resumption of this alleged statement.

The former boxing champion reportedly tweeted such comments on May 28, a few days after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a series of protesters who have sometimes turned violent or looted in the United States. But it's actually a fake tweet.

FAKE OFF

Joined by Reuters, a representative for Mike Tyson confirmed that it was a fabricated message, presumably from an authentic tweet from the boxer, dated May 10, unrelated to the riots - that had not yet taken place on that date.

There are indeed the same number of retweets and "likes", any user can easily falsify the content of a tweet from a simple browser.

In addition, Mike Tyson tweeted a photo of him on the knee on June 8, a gesture seen as a symbol of the fight against police violence and racism in the United States.
