A court in Austria sentenced a former colonel for espionage in favor of Russia

The Salzburg Regional Court sentenced a retired colonel of the Austrian Armed Forces to three years in prison for spying for Russia. About it, as writes RIA Novosti, said court spokesman Peter Egger.


“The court sentenced (the accused. - RT ) to three years for disclosing state secrets,” he said.

In November 2019, the Salzburg prosecutor's office charged the ex-colonel with intelligence activities in favor of Russia.

Austrian authorities said in 2018 that a retired colonel was suspected of intelligence activities in favor of Russia from 1992 to 2018.
