Chizhov appreciated the possibility of opening the external borders of the Schengen zone

Russia's Permanent Representative to the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov on the Russia 24 television channel, assessed the possibility of opening the external borders of the Schengen zone.

He said that at present "it is only about the internal, intra-EU, intra-Schengen borders."

“The issue of opening the external border of the European Union, respectively, of the Schengen space is not a practical issue,” Chizhov said.

Earlier, President of the European Council Charles Michel said that EU member states should open their borders that have been closed since mid-March due to the pandemic of the coronavirus infection COVID-19.
