The volume of retail trade in Russia in April, against the backdrop of the situation with coronavirus infection, decreased by more than 35%, said President Vladimir Putin at a meeting on economic issues.

According to him, the most sensitive problem for companies is a drop in demand.

“So, the volume of retail trade, retail sales in Russia in April fell by more than 35%,” TASS quoted Putin as saying.

As the head of state noted, this indicates how sharply, almost simultaneously, the market contracted.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin assured that the government continues to take measures to protect citizens and the economy.
