Thousands of musicians have signed a call urging Spotify to launch a crisis fund for musicians who have been hit financially by the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Spotify is launching a project to provide financial assistance to people in the music industry

Culture News has previously reported on the call Now the music is silent, which calls on Spotify and other capital-intensive players to start an emergency fund where musicians and artists can seek support for lost income due to the coronavirus outbreak. The call is now up in almost sixty signatures.

Spotify has now launched the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief project. Anyone will be able to donate money to people in need in the music industry through the project and Spotify will match every dollar raised by donating up to $ 10 million to partner organizations MusiCares, PRS Foundation and Help musicians.

Spotify is also working to launch a feature that allows artists to collect money directly from their fans.
