NME appoints Robyn as the songwriter of the decade

2/5/2020, 12:32:08 PM

Swedish Robyn is to be voted last decade's leading songwriter at the British music magazine NME's annual prize gala. The award is a one-off phenomenon and goes to Robyn for her "invaluable contribution to and influence on today's pop landscape," writes NME.

In December, the same magazine named her Dancing on my own as the 2010 best song.

- There are so many good songs written before or after 2010 that have inspired me. So I feel very humbled and honored to receive this award, Robyn tells NME.

It has been known before that Courtney Love will be named the icon of the year and that the award "divine genius" will be awarded to Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis.

The NME Gala takes place in London on February 12. Performers include AJ Tracey, Yungblud and The 1975.
