The main countries of origin of tourists were the United Kingdom , Germany and France . The arrival of tourists resident in the United Kingdom decreased 2.4%, that of German tourists 2.1%, and that of tourists from France decreased 1.2%.
Catalonia was the main autonomous community of main destination in 2019, with 23.1% of total tourists. Behind the Balearic Islands (with 16.3%) and the Canary Islands (with 15.7%).
The average expenditure per tourist reached 1,102 euros, with an increase of 1.7% compared to 2018 . On the other hand, the average daily expenditure grew 5.8%, to 154 euros. The average duration of travel for international tourists was 7.2 days, which meant a decrease of 0.2 days compared to the average of the year 2018.
The country that spent the most in 2019 was the United Kingdom, with 17,986 million euros, 0.2% more than in 2018. It was followed by Germany (with 11,722 million and a decrease of 2.1%) and France (with 7,596 million and an increase of 2.6%).
