The Russian leader Vladimir Putin, following talks in Moscow with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, noted that the law on the special status of Donbass should become unlimited, as stipulated by the Minsk agreements.

Putin emphasized the lack of alternativeness of the Minsk agreements to normalize the situation in the south-east of Ukraine.

“We very much hope that the Ukrainian side will also begin to implement agreements on a political settlement, extending the law on the special status of Donbass ... the law should become unlimited, as stipulated in the Minsk agreements,” the Russian leader said.

According to him, Kiev should consolidate the law on the special status of Donbass in the Constitution of the country.

On December 19, Ukraine entered into force a law on the extension of the special status of Donbass until December 31, 2020.
