Netted spruce dumped in the forest outside Bottnaryd

A number of Christmas trees that are still packaged in plastic nets have been dumped in the forest just outside Bottnaryd in Jönköping Municipality - something that upsets residents in the area. "This is not okay behavior," says a Bottnarydsbo who discovered the dumped fir trees when he was out walking.

25-30 Christmas trees are in the forest lot, all with nets. Many Christmas trees are sold netted for easier handling and Bottnarydsbon, who heard from SVT and told us about the dumping, is upset that the forest is being used as a dump.

- Probably some Christmas tree vendor has done this. It's boring. The fir trees as such may not be so dangerous, but that they are discarded with nets and everything is miserable. There may also be a risk of animals becoming trapped in the net.

the police

No police report has been made yet and it is unclear what happens to the thrown firs. At Jönköping Municipality, they do not know that similar dumping has occurred after previous Christmas holidays.

- If we receive such a case, we report it to the police as garbage, says Claes Magnusson, environmental and health inspector.

He says that in addition to the plastic net, cultivated spruces can also contain some pesticides that should not come out into the wild.

- There are good opportunities to leave this on the sorting gardens, as it applies to all kinds of garden waste.
